Being a disabled veteran with bad everything, I find it invaluable and necessary. I absolutely love the electron wheel and I am always telling folks who ask what it is and how easy and convenient it is. I love it!

Great addition for my commute. This is much better than sitting on a stationary bike during lunch time!!!!

Rarely, at least for me, does a product actually live up to its claims.

This wheel does EXACTLY what it claims.

I have a knee injury from cycling and have been off of a bike for almost two years. My main issues were hills. My knee just couldn’t and can’t take the hills, to the point that the last time I tried I couldn’t walk for three days.

This wheel has basically given my life back to me. I biked to work today for the first time in nearly two years and the only thing that hurt was my butt because it’s not used to the seat anymore.

To say I love this wheel really is an understatement.

It has given me back my life… that’s the best way I can describe it.

I test rode the Electron Wheel last Fall. The four star rating is for the incredible customer service offered before, during, and after the ten day trial period. I came back to the site today to find out if the feature of being able to switch on and off of assist would be added. I agree with Thomas A. on the necessity of that feature. Hopefully, the ability to add/turn-off assist on the fly will be a part of the Electron Wheel soon.

Initially when electron wheel kicked in I was surprised how smooth and how quick you can speed up to 15-18 miles with very light pedaling. Hills became a non issue I now love my rides.

I am very excited about the next generation wheel. I purchased a previous model in August 2017. I am very happy with its operation. The ease of installation. We are in our seventies and need some help biking. I didn’t think my wife would care for having the assistance. So I had her try it. She is hooked. Now I will order a second wheel. Thanks Electron Wheel. You have made biking fun again.

Thanks so much for your review Jon! Glad to hear Electron Wheel could help to get you and your wife back out on the bike!

…just a question before I buy… On Katie Fenders review – so there is no option to turn on and off the pedal assist?? Also I gather the wheel itself does not charge while pedaling as in Ebikes. Thanks.

    • James Parker

Hey James, thanks for your question! The system is entirely pedal assist meaning there is no throttle. When you pedal, then motor engages and when you stop the motor stops. This leads to an intuitive ride experience where you feel like a much stronger rider. That said, our Gen 2 model now has four assist modes you can toggle between from the app (off, low, normal, and high). If you would like to ride without any assist, you can do so by switching to off mode. At the moment we do not have any regen features but do keep in mind the wheel will provide up to 50 miles of range on a single charge. Don’t hesitate if any other questions we can help with!

Makes commuting by bike on those days you’re not quite feeling up to climbing hills easy. I usually commute to work on my bike. It’s a short 5 mile trip each way but it’s downhill in the mornings but quite a bit of climbing back home. On my road bike it usually takes me 20 minutes in the morning on the ride down and about 40 minutes back up coming home. I bought the 26inch version for my old hard tail bike and it significantly cuts down the time and effort coming home to around 26 minutes. I don’t normally take the bike with the electron wheel in since I like the exercise but for days I’m not quite feeling like a long ride like when it’s raining or if I know I need to get home earlier, the electron wheel equipped bike is the bike of choice. The only issue is that the up to 50 mile range is a bit optimistic. My total 10 mile trip (5 miles each way with almost all downhill going and uphill coming home) leaves the batter with 40~50% battery life remaining depending on the level of assist the app is set to. The wheel does add significant weight to the front of the bike and during heavy gust of cross wind you definitely have to hold on to keep your line. Overall I’m satisfied with it due to the level of assist and ease of use and ease of installation along with the ability to easily swap it to another bike and would recommend it to someone that already has a bike, that may not have room for a dedicated ebike, or has a family member who has trouble keeping up with them on bike rides that would benefit from pedal assist.

Hi guys, I nearly pulled the trigger on a Copenhagen wheel and glad I didn’t, apparently it isn’t compatible with carbon frames, I’m assuming as this is mounted to the front forks, this isn’t a concern for you guys? Also, what’s the charge cycle for the battery before it needs to be replaced? And what’s the process for replacement?

    • James Parker

Hey Steve, thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately we haven’t completed testing on carbon frames, so we only recommend Electron Wheel be used with metal frames at the moment. The battery life of our 280 Wh li-ion battery depends on use and conditions. Conservatively, our battery will last about 750 cycles. A partial charge/discharge counts fractionally against those numbers; running the battery down halfway then recharging it completely uses up one half of a charge cycle. We categorize end of useful life as the point at which the battery can no longer supply 70% of it’s original capacity in ampere-hours. At this point, we require the unit be shipped to our warehouse for replacement. If you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out at
